Ski Jackets
Made up of technical materials designed to keep you warm, dry and protected from the elements, ski jackets come in a variety of styles. Nowadays there are many top-rated brands, various fabric options, colors, accessories and more to review when selecting a ski jacket.
Regardless of what type you purchase, a ski jacket is fitted but still provides room for layering so you can bulk up or pare down for the weather. Additionally, each ski jacket comes with ratings on its breathability and resistance to water, both equally important measurements to pay attention to when selecting your jacket. A breathable ski jacket will help you cool off while working up a sweat coming down the mountain. If you plan to ski in wet or snowy conditions, then you’ll want a high water resistance rating. Ski jackets are made to last but only if you put a little extra effort into properly caring for your garment. Shop Bob's Sports Chalet for a huge selection of men's and women's ski jackets that are available for sale in a variety of styles, including the popular Spyder ski jackets.
Types of Ski Jackets:
When selecting a ski jacket, you’ll choose among hardshell, softshell and insulated jackets, depending on your needs and the weather. A hardshell or “shell” jacket is weather resistant, providing the ultimate protection from the wind, snow or rain. This type of ski jacket will be the most waterproof, breathable and versatile option. Wear a shell by itself on warmer days and layer with baselayers and midlayers on colder days. A softshell jacket is made up of stretchier and lighter material to provide more breathability, but will not be as resistant to the elements. An insulated jacket is essentially an all-in-one jacket for the coldest of days, as it comes with an outer layer lined with differing levels of insulation. The insulation used can be synthetic such as Primaloft, or natural such as down.
