O Neill
Since 1952, when Jack O'Neill first opened a surf shop off The Great Highway in San Francisco, the company ethos was simple: life is good, and O'Neill is committed to living and behaving ethically and responsibly in everything they do. It is this ethos and ongoing innovations throughout the decades that had led O'Neill to its remarkable success in the wetsuit industry. By the 1980's, Jack O'Neill's trailblazing workshop had become a respected and much-loved international surf board, leading the lifestyle sportswear markets in the United States, Europe, and Japan.
Throughout every step of the O'Neill journey, Jack and his family and his team have stayed true to their mission: to provide the finest, most robust, enduring, and stylish surf and sportswear apparel and accessories possible. They continue to work with innovators and enthusiasts to push the boundaries of what sports clothing can do, so we can all explore and enjoy the natural world for longer.
In 1996, Jack set up the O'Neill Sea Odyssey program (OSO), a free, ground-breaking marine and environmental education program designed to encourage others to gain a deeper understanding of the ocean and play their part in its protection. Now OSO is proud to welcome over 100,000 students. His environmental impact continued in the O'Neill Blue line in the 2010's, which was another initiative to help the environment by creating sustainable casual and performance wear. His legacy lives on through his environmental work, his pioneering designs, and the community of surfers and natural world enthusiasts that he has inspired throughout the world.
