Marmot
Marmot was started by two adventurous college students, Eric Reynolds and Dave Huntley, who created their own down sleeping bags and vests in their dorm room after a school trip to Alaska. In 1973 they opened up a storefront in Grand Junction, Colorado and from there a chance meeting while climbing the mountains of Peru with adventure filmmaker Mike Hoover led to their first big order. In 1976, the Marmot company teamed up with W. L. Gore & Associates to create waterproof gear and they are currently their oldest client to date.
Marmot jackets, Marmot pants and Marmot clothing are designed for the mountain adventurer who doesn’t let weather get in the way of exploration. High quality, durable materials along with a long list of functional features that keep you dry, warm and comfortable create garments that perform just as well in the backcountry as they do in urban settings. Marmot PreCip rain gear is one of Marmot's most popular items, which are available in both jackets and pants, and for men and women.
Marmot jackets and Marmot ski pants, found in Outerwear, are made to keep you dry and warm through the worst weather days on the slopes. Look for Gore Tex for the ultimate waterproof layer or balance breathability with Marmot MemBrain technology. Marmot Guardian waterproofing is a comfortable dual layer system that keeps water resistant clothing quiet and the densely packed pores of NanoPro fabrics give you the highest level of breathability in waterproof fabrics.
Marmot uses a variety of insulation technologies to keep you warm all day long. Marmot fleece with Polartec is a cozy layer that keeps your heat in while Primaloft, Thermal R and Down Defender fill stays warm even when wet. Find the Driclime moisture transfer system in the collars of many Marmot jackets. This technology wicks water molecules away from your skin and dries quickly for more comfort.
Softshell Marmot jackets use Gore Windstopper to block you from chilling breezes and you can choose from three balance levels of breathability and waterproofing to fit your activity level. Choose M1 softshell Marmot jackets when you need the greatest amount of protection from the elements and light breathability. M2 softshell Marmot jackets are great for the widest variety of activities and have an equal ratio of breathability and waterproofing. When you are pursuing highly aerobic activities in drier and milder conditions, M1 softshell Marmot jackets give you the highest amount of breathability to let perspiration escape easily.
Check out Marmot clothing to keep you warm underneath your Marmot jacket. Marmot fleece can be worn as either a base layer, a mid-layer or even an outer layer.
